Addition

We have been studying addition in math.  We have learned that addition is putting two sets together.  We have learned about the + sign and = sign.  You are welcome to complete the addition homework pages.  

Kindergarten students are expected to memorize math facts within 5.  Your child is bringing home a set of addition flashcards today. Please help him/her practice these facts.

Snap Words

I have added the list of snap words to a tab at the top of this page.  I will add words to the list as we learn them in school.  All of the words should be on your child's word ring.

This week was the indirect week for speech and language services. I was able to get in to the kindergarten classes to work on articulation. Many of you who receive home "work" sheets know that I ask many things of the kids, so I'm hoping this will help!

Giant Castle

Check out the giant castle the students worked together to make. They continued to add to it for two weeks before we took it down. Let's see what they make this week!

We have been enjoying our pet store!

Happy New Year!

We celebrated the New Year by reading a book about resolutions and by writing our own.  We learned that a resolution is a promise to improve yourself or to help others.  Your child wrote his/her own resolutions and is bringing them home today.  Help your child celebrate their goals!

Some of the resolutions we heard today:
I will be a better sport.
I will help others learn to juggle.
I will learn to read more words.
I will learn all of my ABCs.
I will learn how to add numbers.
I will help clean up the classroom.
I will help others build in the Lego center.
I will help others make friends.
I will help my little brother.
I will make presents for my mom and dad.
